ambulance BNSF Railroad Worker Killed By Train in MinneapolisA 17-year veteran with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway lost his life in an unusual accident Tuesday morning. Officials reported that Samuel Lundy, 44, was using a remote device to move the train backward, when the last rail car jumped the tracks and pinned him against the building.

The accident occurred at the railway yard located at NE 37th Street and East River Road. They were dropping off loaded cars at a customer facility.

Emergency crews were called to the scene. Lundy was pronounced dead at the scene. He is survived by a wife and three children.

The Minneapolis Police Department was assisting at the scene. It is not clear what caused the car to derail. No one else was injured.

car crash 11 Minneapolis Woman in Critical Condition after Squad Car CrashA Minneapolis resident, Jolene M. Vassallo, 34, is in critical condition after being struck by a deputy sheriff in Brooklyn Park.

The accident occurred at 1:40 p.m. Saturday, at the intersection of 93rd Avenue N. and W. Broadway. Minnesota State Patrol reported that Deputy Jason L. Majeski was driving his 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe east on 93rd Avenue, responding to a call, when he broadsided the 2004 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Ms. Vassallo. On impact, the Hyundai spun into a 2004 Honda Pilot going west on 93rd Avenue. The Honda was driven by Jackson Ziah, 48, of Maple Grove.

Jolene M. Vassallo, the driver of the Hyundai, was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, in critical condition. Jackson Ziah, the driver of the Honda, suffered minor injuries. A passenger in Ziah’s car, Ethel R. Kpakah, 38, of Brooklyn Park, was treated and released from North Memorial. Officer Majeski was also treated and released from North Memorial.

According to the State Patrol website, Majeski was responding to a call and had his emergency lights on. The color of the signal lights at the time of the crash is still under investigation.

Fatal Head-On Crash in Becker County - 1 Dead, 4 Injured

A 2005 Dodge Caravan, driven by Donald Larson, 67, of Detroit Lakes, crossed the center line on Hwy 34 and crashed head-on into a 2001 Chrysler being driven by Keli Krensing, 34, of Fergus Falls, on Christmas Eve night.

The Krensing family was traveling east on Hwy 34 when the fatal crash occurred, claiming the life of Robert W. Krensing, 34. The family members injured were:

  • Keli A. Krensing, 34
  • Allison P. Krensing, 11
  • Kaitlyn M. Krensing 7
  • Myia K. Krensing 3

Donald Larson, the driver of the van, was not injured.

The incident report from the Minnesota State Patrol stated the accident time as 5:30 p.m. The crash occurred about 15 miles west of Park Rapids, under icy conditions. Becker County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol were working the scene together.

car crash 9 2 in Critical Condition After Head On Collision on I 94 Ramp MinneapolisA head on collision on I-94 ramp killed an unborn child and critically injured the mother, Tao Thao. Her 10 year-old son, Alex, is also in critical condition.

The accident happened at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that a Toyota Tundra, driven by Connie Stroud, 42, of Minneapolis, was going the wrong way on the 49th Ave. Ramp on northbound I-94 and hit a Toyota Sienna mini van head on. Yia Vang, 33, also of Minneapolis, was driving the van and suffered minor injuries.

All of the Vang children were in the van with their parents. Their names are Alex, Lucky, Michelle, Jackie, and Kelly. They range in age from 10 years old down to 3 years old. The four younger children all suffered minor injuries. all the injured were taken to North Memorial Hospital.

The accident is still under investigation. It has not been determined, yet, whether alcohol played a part in the accident. Although on the evening news, State Patrol Captain Matt Langer said that the driver was intoxicated.
