Drunk driving is one of the leading causes of traffic accidents. Unfortunately, when someone chooses to drink and drive, the consequences do not always stay with them. Perfectly sober people, minding their own business, are killed by drunk drivers every year.

When a person chooses to drive drunk, there is always the possibility of a crash. After the first drink, people are affected by alcohol. Everything is affected from vision to reaction time to judgment. This is what causes accidents. While it is true that not every drunk driver will end up in an accident, it is not worth it to take the chance, especially given the possible outcomes.

You hear about people killed by drunk drivers all of the time. Perhaps it was someone driving down the road when a drunk driver crossed into oncoming traffic and caused a head on collision. Perhaps it was the drunk driver who hit a child in the early morning. No matter what the story is, there is always one common factor. Someone caused the accident by driving drunk.

You shouldn’t have to pay for other people’s bad choices. Someone who decides to drink and drive should not be your responsibility. However, if that person causes an accident involving you or someone that you know and care about, you are suddenly very much involved in that person’s decision.
