The Route 19 bus hit a Ford Mustang, that was trying to turn left at Lyndale Avenue North, according to Metro Transit spokesman Bob Gibbons.

Both drivers were uninjured. The Mustang was totaled and the driver was cited for failure to yield. The standard procedure requires that the bus driver undergo drug and alcohol testing, as well as be off the job until the results are known.

The injured passengers were taken to HCMC. One of the passengers flew forward, hitting his head on the bus windshield. He was put on a backboard, but was conscious and talking to the police officers. The other 7 passengers sustained minor injuries.
