At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Minneapolis Police officers were responding to a call about a man with a gun when they were hit by a drunk driver. The accident happened at 34th and Minnehaha. The impact was so great that it sent the squad car across two yards.
The driver of the other vehicle was so drunk that he did not even know he had hit a police vehicle. His blood alcohol level was .207, according to police. The 25-year-old was driving with a canceled license and there were signs of marijuana in his car. This was not his first offense.
The two police officers sustained minor injuries. One officer was injured when the air bag struck her in the face. The other officer was cut on the arm. The squad car was totaled.
