Police were doing surveillance in Minneapolis, near Bloomington, Saturday morning when the suspect realized he was being watched. He stole a car and led police on a chase onto the Crosstown Highway, to northbound 35W, and exited Diamond Lake Road, hitting three cars en route.

Minneapolis Police were tracking the man because he was suspected of being involved in a property crimes ring. The man became aware that he was being followed and fled in a stolen car.

Richfield Police assisted the Minneapolis Police on the ground and the State Patrol helicopter helped with tracking from the air. After the car exited Diamond Lake Road, the driver headed through South Minneapolis to 46th and Portland. At that point, the driver crashed into a fourth car. He abandoned the stolen car and fled on foot, but was captured in the 4600 block of Portland Avenue.
